Richard Whittaker founded R.E. Whittaker Company in 1961 with a straightforward goal: help facilities clean smarter. What started as a local janitorial supply business grew into the company that pioneered low-moisture carpet cleaning.
In the 1980s, Whittaker introduced CRYSTAL® Chemistry encapsulation cleaning technology, a low-moisture chemistry that crystallizes soil so it releases during vacuuming instead of lingering in your carpet damaging it and reappearing over time. It changed how facilities thought about maintenance cleaning and it is still the foundation of the system today.
Trent and Derek Whittaker grew up around this business and never really left, which means the company their grandfather built is still run by people who genuinely care about whether the carpet comes clean. The mission has not changed and the system just keeps getting better.
